Here is our post about our Pigeon Falls Hike in Marienville Pa located in the Allegheny National Forest. Good times, good friends and beautiful scenery make it an amazing experience.
Directions
This little hike was a mixture of our own invention, lol. First we started out at our camp called Red Brick however you can start from 227 and 124 forest roads. There are places to park your car on 124.
From Marienville go 66 North until you come to Durhing Road. Make a right on Durhing. Go about 5 to 6 miles and keep looking for a dirt road to Y to the left, that is 124. You will go down a hill to the bottom where you will cross a bridge, that is Spring Creek. Keep going straight up the hill for about 2.5 to 3 miles. Keep looking for the little green signs that mark the road. They are not very bid so you will have to pay attention. The one that you want is 227. Now you can find a place to park and walk back like we did or you can make a right on 227 and drive back. In the video you will see Jon bowing on his hands and knees. That is the spot you want to look for. It is not marked very good.
Since this spot is hard to find I am going to go into more detail. 227 is about 7 miles long and you are going to travel most of that to get to this spot. About 5 miles on 227 alone. As you travel 227 keep looking in your rear view mirror. There are 2 trails that Y off to the right, they are both horse trails. Coming from 124 you want the SECOND one. I tell you this because both will take you there but the first one is full of much from the horses. The video will help you pick the spot. In the image below you can see Jon bowing on his hands and knees because we made it to the trail. Notice the mark on the video 5:57 you can fast forward there to try and get your bearings. Below is also a Google Map of the location where you turn.
